1933

In 1933, Harvy buys out James. In October of 1933, the property was deeded to William C. Houppert of Indiana. A mortgage was secured from John Turner for $55,000. Thus, we have the beginning of the Houppert Wine Co. which would last for ten years and be the most colorful era in the winery's history.

William Houppert was from a long line of wine makers from France. His father was a wine master, from the Alsaise-Lorraine area of France, who moved to Indianapolis to start a winery.
